Moncur Street Woollahra

Architect's own residence comprising 4 Bedrooms (all with built-in Robes), Study, Children's retreat, Garage and internal Laundry/Toilet.

A full Bathroom is provided off the main Bedroom and an en-suite off the second bedroom is entered through a door in the built-in Robe. Bedrooms 3 + 4 share another Bathroom.

The Dining/Living and adjacent Kitchen/Eating areas open directly onto the heated pool/spa and tiled rear yard.

The house incorporates ducted central heating, intercom to all rooms and a ducted vacuum system.

The house is filled with natural light but, through careful design of roof overhangs, the placement of skylights and the incorporation of narrow adjustable glass louvres, the house remains cool throughout the hot summer months, without the need for artificial cooling.

The three-storey high Entry Corridor, with a large Velux roof window overhead creates a dramatic space. Balustrades at First + Second Floor levels have direct visual access into this space.

The large cantilevered slab above the Kitchen is kept clear of the side brick wall so that the Kitchen and Children's retreat above are contained within this two-storey high space. The north-eastern wall of this space is fully glazed, and adds further to the dramatic effect.

To minimize heat-gain, all glass throughout the house is grey-tinted.
