The owners of this house are outgrowing its accommodations and commissioned this office to design alterations and additions to provide 2 additional Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, a new Kitchen, a new Dining Room, and a new Family Room with direct access to the large rear yard.

The brief for the Kitchen/Dining/Family area was that the area should be open-plan, but that each 'space' should have a unique feel. To achieve this, a 'stepped' ceiling is provided over the Family Room, with the flat ceilings in the Kitchen and Dining areas set slightly lower. A change in floor finish is also a very effective method of achieving a delineation of a space within a space.

Adjustable louvres will provide controllable cross-ventilation.

A wall of bi-fold doors along the rear yard-side of the Family Room will allow the space to be opened up completely to the rear timber deck

The owners have endorsed our design and a Development Application is currently being prepared for submission to Marrickville Council.
